Elena is currently a research technician at MARE-Madeira, contributing to the MACPuffinus project, which aims to expand current knowledge about the seabird Puffinus puffinus. She has a Masters in Nature Conservation from the University of Murcia and completed her thesis in partnership with the Funchal Ecological Park, where she studied the population dynamics and ecological impact of domestic cats on Madeira's fauna, as well as the distribution of feral ferrets on the island. Previously, she worked in La Palma (Canary Islands) as a field technician for the Vertebrate Atlas of La Palma, focusing on passerines, reptiles, and seabirds distributions.
