Patrícia is the Community Engagement Officer at MARE-Madeira, where she manages our social media presence, leads video production, and supports our institute's wider communication and outreach efforts. Her role seeks to engage our local and digital communities with science in an entertaining yet scientifically accurate way.

From a young age, Patrícia has had a passion for photography, but her love for wildlife led her to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Biology (University of Évora, Portugal). While completing her Master's degree in Marine Biology (University of Algarve, Portugal), with a thesis focused on cetaceans in the Ligurian Sea, her interest in videography began to blossom. Research took a back seat as her desire shifted towards sharing the wonders of nature with the general public, shedding light on the everyday marvels studied by scientists. At MARE-Madeira, she gets to combine her knowledge of scientific processes and marine life with her passion for visual storytelling to create meaningful content that connects others to the ocean.
