Students:
If you are a student and looking for an internship opportunity, please head over to our Opportunities page to see if we have an internship available to match your timeframe and interests! As we’re limited in the number of interns we can take each year, we believe the best approach is to make the process fair and competitive, so we ask that all interns apply in this way. There are two exceptions to this:

If you are a Madeira resident looking for an internship, especially if you have the chance to apply for a government grant, please email us. Although our usual internship funding source (ERASMUS) doesn’t fund local students, we do our best to prioritize local requests and find alternative funding.
2.
If you’ve already received a competitive scholarship* to undertake an internship, please email us and we’ll be glad to explore ideas! For example, we recently had two artists funded by competitive scholarships (one from the US, one from the UK) do residencies with us.
*Please note: due to the non-competitive nature of ERASMUS funded internships, we think it’s fairer if we open an ERASMUS call, inviting applicants to apply to specific opportunities here in a competitive way. We hope you understand.
We’ll also advertise PhD calls on our Opportunities pages (and on social media), so do keep an eye out for those, too. The main calls that our PhD students have used for funding their degree are the FCT PhD Studentships and the la Caixa Doctoral INPhINIT fellowships. Get ahead of the curve and check out your eligibility for these calls before they open!
