Sou a Catarina e estou a acabar o secundário na escola secundária Francisco Franco. Desde sempre tive uma grande admiração pelo meio ambiente mas principalmente com o mar pois ia acompanhar o meu pai nas manhãs de surf. Nessa altura altura dizia que queria trabalhar com o mar mas desconhecia biologia marinha, mais tarde queria ser engenheira ambiental e ativista até que um dia conheci a área que pretendo seguir na universidade do Algarve, biologia marinha.

Gosto de estar ativa, aprender coisas novas, viver o mundo da investigação e educar a sociedade, principalmente as gerações mais jovens sobre problemas ambientais. No futuro quero trabalhar na área a fazer a diferença.

I'm Catarina and I'm in my final year at Francisco Franco Secondary School. I've always had a great admiration for the environment, and especially for the sea as I used to accompany my father when he went surfing. Even at an early age, I said I wanted to work with the sea but I didn't know anything about marine biology. Later, I wanted to be an environmental engineer and an activist until, one day, I learned about the area I’ve decided to pursue at the University of the Algarve: marine biology.

I like being active, learning new things, experiencing the world of research and educating others about environmental problems -- especially younger generations. In the future I would like to work in this area and make a difference.
