Diana Dias
I joined the Youth Ambassador program at MARE-Madeira in 2025, as part of my continued interest in environmental education and long-standing commitment to marine conservation.
Being raised on an island, surrounded by valleys and deep seas, shaped my connection from an early age. Being underwater has allowed me to observe marine environments firsthand and better understand the challenges facing ocean ecosystems. I'm also trained in recreational diving, which has played an important role in deepening my connection to these environments. Throughout my journey, I've been actively involved in conservation, with hands-on experience in wildlife rehabilitation centres.
As a Youth Ambassador at MARE-Madeira, I participate in outreach and environmental awareness initiatives that promote ocean literacy and public engagement with science. I strongly believe that making science accessible is essential to empower communities, especially younger generations, to actively contribute to ocean conservation.
My goal is to build a career that combines conservation, fieldwork and science communication, contributing to the protection of the ecosystems while inspiring others to care for and value nature.
