Laura Piazzese
Laura, a Research Technician at MARE-Madeira, holds an MSc in Environmental Biology and Biodiversity from the University of Pavia, Italy. Her interest in marine life emerged with a focus on fouling communities and non-indigenous species. Prior to her official tenure at MARE-Madeira, Laura collaborated with the institute through internships, which expanded her skills across various topics such as mesocosm experiments, macroalgae, and predation.
As a participant in the GAME (Global Approach by Modular Experiments) program at the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research in Kiel, Germany, she had the opportunity to gain skills in experiments related to light pollution. Laura is now applying her diverse skill set to support ongoing explorations into marine ecosystems at MARE-Madeira.
