Silvia is a research technician at MARE-Madeira, working on the IMPLAMAC_CAP_2CAP project, which focuses on monitoring microplastics in coastal environments across Macaronesia. She holds an MSc in Marine Biology from the University of Naples Federico II. Her master’s thesis, developed in collaboration with the University of Aveiro, examined the combined effects of microplastics and marine heatwaves on mussels, contributing to a better understanding of multiple stressors on marine organisms. Before her current role, Silvia completed an internship at MARE-Madeira where she worked in bioacoustics studying the vocalizations of the local population of pilot whales.
