Bárbara Cavaleiro is a Research Collaborator at MARE – Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre, Regional Agency for the Development of Research Technology and Innovation (ARDITI) working in Regional Directorate for the Sea, Madeira archipelago.
Bárbara completed a MSc in Aquatic Biological Resources, in 2017 at University of Porto. Since 2017, she has been dedicated to the study of fish parasites and their application as biological tags in the study of migration routes and populations. The focus of its investigations were tunas, due to their global commercial importance and low knowledge in the Atlantic Ocean. In 2020, she started to work in the research of microplastics and emergent pollutants in fish regarding human consumption. In addition, Bárbara has been participating in international projects.
