Filipe Freitas Henriques is a research collaborator at MARE – Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre, Regional Agency for the Development of Research Technology and Innovation (ARDITI) and is currently working in Madeira Regional Secretariat for Sea and Fisheries.
Filipe is a marine biologist with a Master’s degree from the University of Algarve. He worked mainly on Marine Conservation and Biodiversity projects having participated in several scientific expeditions. He has developed skills such as integrated taxonomy, marine ecology and scientific diving. Currently, his focus is on ocean policy studies, with a special focus on Marine Strategy Framework Directive, Recreational Fisheries and Ocean Literacy. Filipe has several publications in indexed scientific journals, having participated in several National and International Projects, Conferences, Congresses and Workshops.

Islands Biogeography, Non-Indigenous Species, Ecology and biodiversity of Coastal and Pelagic Habitats of North Eastern Atlantic, Population Genetics, Conservation Genetics, Fisheries, Marine Policy, Ocean Literacy.
